Free health check-up camp organized

“A Hygienic & Healthy Environment can only lead to a good health and that always by maintaining cleanliness”, with this motto JBF (Just Be Friendly) organized a Free Health Check-up cum Awareness Camp on Sunday, 8th February 2009 at Safdarjung Flyover Basti (Slum Cluster), New Delhi where JBF Welfare Organization has started another Informal School recently. This camp was a part of different activities JBF is planning for the slum cluster.

Chief Functionary of JBF Dr. Sashanka, other team members & volunteers were present on the occasion and apprised the about focus areas and purpose of the camp.

As a part of awareness campaign the volunteers discussed with the gathering about HIV/AIDS, first aid and female foeticide & different diseases & how it can be prevented with small behavioral & lifestyle changes.

Besides examining & providing treatment, Dr. Sachdeva who is associated with JBF for a long time discussed with the people about their problems related to the health. He also suggested the measures how the health condition can be improved.

Medicines were distributed among the patients according to the prescription of the doctor.

JBF has decided that one Doctor & a Nurse/Dispenser will visit this slum regularly to provide the follow-up treatments. JBF team & volunteers will give emphasis on motivating people to take the advantages of different government schemes & hospitals. JBF wishes that people from the slum will spread awareness about the importance to cleanliness among themselves & to others in their workplace leading to good health and hygienic & Healthy environment.

Security forces seized a huge cache of plastic explosives from three youths who were on their way to target a power station in Dhemaji district on Saturday.According to police, the three youths, sped away on their motorcycles, when signalled to stop during a routine check near the Panbari border outpost under Gerukamukh police station.They were caught and arrested following a chase after three packets of plastic explosives, five packets of fuse wire, six fuses and daggers were found in their possession.Identified as Pranendra Wari, Nakesh Narzari and Hemkanta Narzari, they were targeting the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation at the Gerukamukh dam site.

Over 50 people have been injured when an ATSC bus overturned in the outskirt if Guwahati on Friday. The accident took place when the Assam State Transport Corporation owned bus on its way to Guwahati from Barpeta, was trying to overtake a truck when it overturned and rolled down the road to a nearby field in Nayanpur area.The condition of five injured was stated to be critical. They were admitted to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital, while the others are being treated at the Hajo Primary Health Care centre.
