Education@Assam and political impact on it

I am based out in Delhi for the last 5 years. From the childhood I have seen the involvement of politics in our education system. Now, it looks like that the education for all people are decided only by the political folks specially student union. I write this blog after I came to know one of the frustrating news at least for me in last week.

It's about the LLB examination. After so many of discussion LLB student has got a green signal that there exam will be conducted from 23rd of December onwards. Suddenly, the Assam Student Union went into strike raising a concern that how the student from different region will go to different center for appearing exam. I know this is a valid concern and board should take this kind of decision. But, my only question to the student union leaders is why they didn't raise this concern into high-court when exam center is being declared. Why they wait till the last moment? I don't understand one thing why this is happening. Since, LLB exam is put on hold indefinitely, can anyone know that thousands of student across Assam will loose one year. Since, some of them might thinking about joining further studies after finishing this, they have to stop their plan after this. Thousands of students not appearing for any competitive exam just because the schedules of the LLB exam is on hold.

Now see who is responsible for this? In the current challenging world if you loose single minute then it cost a lot, but student in Assam loose their one valuable year, who will return back the time to them - the student union or someone else.

If the union is meant for student only then I request you guys kindly that instead of spoiling students career in Assam, please do some development kind of work. There are lots of good/meritorious student across Assam, but they do not have got enough exposure due to either economically not so strong condition or they not aware what's going on in today's world. The time is to keep yourself settle down, not to go for strike and put on hold exams and other such things.

Another concern I have is related to competitive exam in Assam, specially the APSC exam. This is a prestigious exam and is meant for selecting the best ones having leadership quality and put Assam in front of the world and guide the people of our state. But this is not happening as per I know. There is no proper defined protocol for this examination. Anyone at any point of time raise their concern and put this examination on hold indefinitely. This is what is happening now a days.

World is moving on vast speed, but we specially the Assamese community is still on the 1947 like attitude.

I request each and every person not to take some steps now and let every one in this world aware of Assam as a sate otherwise soon we loose our identity. People still treat us as jangli. We have proper identity in this world as land of tea, as land of Lachit Barphukan, land of Sankardeva but we loose this identity just because of this communal violation, politics across and extremists problem....

This is the time grow ourselves and think practically. Please do that to build Assam a beautiful state so called Xonar Asom.

Thanks,

Kuldip Gayan
