Free medical camp for flood victims at Kamalpur

A free medical camp was today held at Borshil Girls LP School under Kamalpur revenue circle of Kamrup district for flood affected people of the area. The camp was personally organised by Dr. Akhtarul Islam, Rastriy Gaurav Award winner eye specialist from Baihata Chariali with the aim to provide medical services to poor and needy flood affected people of the remote area. About 600 patients from Borshil, Bamungaon,Bhaira, Chotshil,Kanikuchi, Borigog,Kumarpata,Kendukona and Maranjana villages were treated in the camp. Seven doctors namely Dr. Lakshy Pati Sarmah, Dr. Akhtarul Islam, Dr. Ariful Islam, Dr. Sajjadul Islam, Dr. Sayedur Rahman, Dr. Khairul Hussain and Dr. Iliasor Rahman rendered services to the patients. Medicines worth Rs. 70,000 were distributed in the camp.

Two NDFB cadre apprehended

Baihata Chariali Police today apprehended two NDFB cadre from Baihata Chariali. Police has recovered one 9mm Pistol and 7 live rounds from their possession. Names of both the ultras are yet to be disclosed.

Student Killed in road mishap

One student namely Samnur Ali (12) was killed in a road mishap took place today at NH 31 at Kamalpur in Kamrup district of Assam at around 9-45am. According to the police sources Samnur Ali, a student of Kamalpur MV school got severe injury when he was hit by a truck No. WB -41/ 3109 on the way to his school. He breathed his last on the way to GMCH. The truck was seized from Rangia by Kamalpur Police.

ULFA cadre apprehended at Sualkuchi

Kamrup Police today apprehended one ULFA cadre namely Mintu Kalita (22) from Bamundi under Sualkuchi PS under Kamrup district of Assam. Police has recovered some documents pertaining to ULFA. Mintu was involved with many extortion activities. He is a member of 709 battalion of ULFA.

Militant held in Kamalpur

An ULFA militant namely Ritul Sarma (25) was apprehended today at Haripur village under Kamalpur PS of Kamrup district by Kamrup Police, Troops of Red Horns Division of the Indian Army and CRPF.The militant is under the custody of Kamalpur Police station.

Public health is under threat in Kamrup district of Assam due to establishment of coke industries in various parts of the district. It is to be noted that the name of coke industry comes under high air polluting industries of the world. Coke industries are mainly engaged in purifying coal. But in the process of purifying coal air becomes polluted. Carbon Monoxide and many other toxic gases are left from these industries. Seven granades recovered from public bus at Tamulpur

Tamulpur Police and CRPF today recovered seven Granades from one Public Bus namely Deendayal (AS-01/G7298) coming from Darranga Mela towards Rangia at around 12 pm at Tamulpur under Bagsa district. Four NDFB cadre were killed in an encounter with the troops of Red Horns Division deployed at Goreswar and Bagsa district Police took place at Kahibari village under Goreswar Police station in Bagsa district today at around 10-30am. Kamrup Police apprehended one hardcore ULFA militant namely Nripen Das (29) from Hajo under Kamrup district last night. According to police sources a police team led by Swapnanil Deka,APS, ASP Kamrup launched a search operation acting on specific information and captured the militant. Nripen Das was a cadre of 709 battalion of ULFA and was involved in many activities including extortion.
