Tezpur : On 25th July,2007 All Assam Hills Tribal Council had organised a meeting in Sonitpur District in village Missamari. Benudhar Tumung, President and Nripen Ingti General Secretary of All Assam Hills Tribal Council was present in the meeting. In the meeting the Sonitpur District Committee has form to work for the Hills People living in plains. The new unit was formed with Chikari Terang as President and Sarching Teron as General Secretary.All Assam Hills Tribal Council is Non Government, non religious, non political organisation. The Head Office is at Guwahati. The Organisation is working for the upliftment of Hills people living in Plains.

I am an student studing in IISER-KOLKATA. I m very much keen to join a NGO like above given and want to work on upliftment of our people.

First, tribals have to work hard.
Tribals are not competent farmers. So, Bangladeshis are prospering in our agriculture sector.
Look at the agricultural produce of Kharupetia near Mangaldoi town. Bangladeshis have taken over agriculture. They are not only good at growing crops and vegetables but also know to sell them.
What is the use of forming so many tribal organisations when the ground reality is lack of work culture among tribals?

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday asked police to nab the culprits in the Guwahati molestation case within the next 48 hours. But out of 12 identified police have so far arrested only 4 miscreants. That too five days after the shocking incident that brews widespread acrimony. KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi on Saturday targeted a satellite TV news channel alleging that a reporter of the channel was actively involved on the Guwahati molestation incident. KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi on Friday demands President’s Rule in Assam to bail out the state from the worsening law and order situation. Talking to reporters, Gogoi said that Guwahati is teeming with lumpen elements and criminals where the people have no safety and security. Three suspected NDFB cadres were gunned down during an encounter with security forces in Goalpara district on Friday. According to police, the encounter took place during an operation in Salpara around in the wee hours. In the retaliatory firing, three cadres were killed, while the rest two managed to escape. An AK-56 rifle, a 9mm pistol, a Chinese grenade and over 100 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the spot.
A woman died of electrocution when she was trying to charge her mobile phone in Kamrup (Rural) district on Friday. The incident took place in the morning in Pitambar Hat Bajali village, when the woman jolted as she put the mobile charger to the switch and fell unconscious in her house of the district.
