BTR Peace Accord Day celebrated
On Friday, the government of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) observed the third BTR Peace Accord Day as "Day of Peace" on Friday. A massive bike peace rally was held in Kokrajhar, the "City of Peace." The rally drew thousands of people from various parts of the Kokrajhar district.
Pramod Boro, the CEM of BTR, inaugurated the installation of a 100-foot high mast pole for the Indian national flag in Kokrajhar. On this occasion, the ex-gratia initiative for the families of the Bodoland martyrs was launched. For the first time, 201 families were each given a cheque for Rs. 5 lakh.
The event was attended by CEM Pramod Boro, Katiram Boro, Speaker of the BTCLA, MLA Sjt Lawrence Islary, BTR executive members, and officials. To commemorate the occasion, a blood donation camp was held, and the CEM and several social leaders donated blood.
CEM Pramod Boro extended greetings and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. He stated that the UPPL-led UPPL-BJP-GSP alliance government is committed to regional development and has launched a number of schemes and projects.
The BTR government has decided to mark the BTR Accord Day as "Day of Peace" every January 27th. Boro stated that citizens in the region want peace and integrity, and that the BTR Accord paves the way for development and the welfare of fellow citizens.
