MSME residential training held at NEHU

Shillong: National Institute for MSME (ni-msme), Hyderabad is conducting a one week training programme on "MSME Innovative Scheme" for 28 MSME officers from various states of the country at NEHU campus, Shillong from 10th to 14th October, 2022. 

Recently, a new “MSME Innovative Scheme” was introduced by the Ministry of MSME to strengthen MSME’s ecosystem by developing innovative solutions and applications which will help them to move up the value chain. The primary objective is to promote and support untapped creativity and help in adopting the latest technologies and methods in the MSME sector. The scheme is a combination of Incubation, Design intervention and IPR protection initiatives to enhance MSME competitiveness and transform them as National and International Champions.

The Inaugural program was held on October 10th, 2022 in the Seminar room, Biomedical Engineering Department, NEHU, Shillong. The Chief Guest for the programme was Shri. G.H.P. Raju, IPS, Principal Secretary to the Govt. of Meghalaya and Prof. P.S. Shukla, Vice Chancellor, NEHU and the Chairperson of the event. 

Introductory remarks were given by Mr. Sarath Muthyala, Associate Faculty Member from Ni-Msme who emphasised on the organizing of the said training programme and how it would have long term benefits. 

Mr. Satish Kumar, from MSME, Delhi, stressed and highlighted the different aspects of the MSME innovative scheme which could play a significant role in improving the economic growth of the country.  
Mr. G.H.P. Raju stressed the innovation in routine official work and how to understand and connect with the needs of society to support them for the improvement in the overall economic situation and growth of the country. 

Prof. P.S. Shukla stressed the need to have close interactions between the ministry, industry and academic institutions to improve the innovation and incubation system in the country and promote young entrepreneurs. 

Dr. Dinesh Bhatia, Coordinator at NEHU, Shillong, in his closing remarks stressed the requirement for arranging such training programs and how the government of Meghalaya is promoting innovation through PrimeHub Meghalaya. He specifically thanked the MSME officials and Chief Minister and other government officials for organizing the said training programme at the NEHU University campus.

Garo Hills Autonomous District Council polling is over with moderate turn out in Meghayala on Monday. Security forces are fanning in the nook and corner of Williamnagar area in search of the GNLA militants who killed two policemen unleashing reign of terror on Thursday. Trouble brews for a section of officers in the Meghalaya urban development after the Meghalaya High asked CBI to register cases against them for allowing the construction of high rise buildings in Shillong.  A division bench of the Meghalaya High Court comprising Chief Justice Uma Nath Singh and Justice SR Sen on Monday directed CBI to institute probe against the officer who cleared permissions for construction of high rise buildings violating the G+3 building by-laws.The court in its order asked the authority to demolish the illegal construction within 15 days with the help of para-military forces.

Amid an escalating counter insurgency offensive,   Meghalaya police claimed to have killed a top GNLA at an encounter in Meghalaya on Sunday.  The gun battle took place at Patalgre village near Williamnagar in East Garo Hills at around 11:20 in the morning in between Patalgre and Dorengkigre village. According to superintendent of police, East Garo Hills, “there was a huge exchange of firing where the militant died on the spot. Police recovered an AK-56 from the encounter spot.”The slain militant was brought to Williamnagar at 2 in the afternoon.
Suspected militants are believed to have killed an intelligence officer in Meghalaya sending sensation across the north eastern region on Friday.
