Solo Song Film honours Mother Teresa on 110th birthday

Kolkata, 23 August 2020 — A Kolkata artist has come up with a new genre song dedicated to Mother Teresa of Calcutta to mark the saints 110th birthday, 26 August 1910.

The new genre is called Folktronica - a type of music comprising various elements of folk music and electronica, often featuring uses of acoustic instruments – especially stringed instruments – and incorporating hip hop, electronic or dance rhythms, although it varies based on influences and choice of sounds.

Made in the pandemic’s lock down times Korak Day of Kolkata calls it “Solo Song Film Art” entitled Nirmal Hriday - an English Bangla music video dedicated to all who volunteered for Mother Teresa’s Works and helped in her works.

Depicting Mother Teresa as a blessing unlike the colonisers who came to India, Day’s lyric says:
We had the golden Bengal in our precious India
Which was looted with greed by the evil foreign gangsters.
They brought the lamentations of great famines upon us.
But around 1950 a sweet miracle happened for the victims.
Mother Teresa I love you, Saint Teresa of Kolkata, we love you.

Referring to Mother Teresa, Day says, “She is one of my three mothers (other two mothers are Nature and his mother Mira) and I wanted to do something special fighting all odds so that the future generations of my world would love and understand her more than our generations.”

Working 24x7 since 1996 after leaving high paying Military Officer’s job, Day has been working for humanity with selfless love without accepting donations.

Still a bachelor, 49 year old social activist and founder of “Aamar Nijer My own" Charitable Trust, Day says, “Not married and with no children, how or whom do I pass the most beautiful experiences I have had in my most beautiful life? This song is my way and my beloved gift for the future generations, so the song had to be latest futuristic style.”

Day explains, “Solo Song Film means just like other art forms, everything is done by one soul, in this case, me.”

Explaining further, he says, “I neither have money nor will to fight to create my Art. So I do everything myself. I have a pre production, production studio, post production sound and editing as well as VFX studios of my own.”

In a melancholic tone Day mourns, “The Film Industry is run by those who have sold their souls and somehow I just don’t fit it like Vincent Van Gogh.”

Day has some 110 songs to his credit (available in Amazon), and this, the 110th is dedicated to Mother Teresa on her 110th birthday.

A dropout of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute Kolkata, Day’s award winning debut film MY KARMA was also inspired by Mother Teresa’s philosophy of service.

The 30 plus minute mini-feature film stars popular local film-star from Kolkata: Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Arjun Chakraborty and Moonmoon Sen. It was filmed and sound mixed by National Award winners Asim Bose and Anup Mukherji.

An English movie made in Kolkata MY KARMA tells the story of a sheep sacrificed at Kalighat temple reincarnates as a privileged man but still is a sheep - until in the same place, he goes through another sacrifice.

My Karma has won Best Directorial Debut at New York International Film and Video Festival, GRAND PRIX (Foreign films) at Niepokalanow (Warsaw) Intl. Film Festival, Poland, and Best Script' at World Spiritual Film Festival, Japan among several others.

NIRMAL HRIDAY (The Mother Teresa Song)
… the way Mother Teresa inspired me and the million others
A SOLO SONG FILM through KORAK DAY [A Korak Gaan].

This song is dedicated to all who volunteered
for Mother Teresa’s Works and helped in her works.

~SONG~
(portions in italics are roughly translated from original Bangla,
Mother Teresa’s adopted language)

Anyone can love the rich,
The powerful and the famous.
But you loved those whom
even their own people shunned.
That’s why you are more than a Saint
or an ideal Mother who could just love
the child she gave birth to.

You are the Mother of Humanity!

You had come to my city,
That’s why the city got a Nirmal Hriday (in Kalighat)
For 100s of years we were enslaved by foreigners
While we had forgotten our own concept of ‘God within the Poor’.

You are the lighthouse for those
Who are between the devil and the deep seas.

MOTHER TERESA I LOVE YOU
SAINT TERESA OF KOLKATA
WE LOVE YOU LOVE YOU

You are the hope for those
Who suffers from regrets, grieves and pains.

We had the Golden Bengal in our precious India
Which was looted with greed by the evil foreign gangsters
They brought the lamentations of great famines upon us.
But around 1950 a sweet miracle happened for the victims.

MOTHER TERESA I LOVE YOU
SAINT TERESA OF KOLKATA
WE LOVE YOU LOVE YOU

You are the reason the world loves the poor now.
And you told mothers killing your baby is a sin.

Another foreigner came to the city as Mother Teresa.
She became the hope for those victims on the streets
created by the other foreigners.
The children whom no one loves at all,
She pulled them to her heart
to become a Mother to the world.

MOTHER TERESA I LOVE YOU
SAINT TERESA OF KOLKATA
WE LOVE YOU LOVE YOU

Do everything, just with Love.
Thus, she gave a torch of fire to my heart
Unlike those evil foreigners, you are the Pride of Bengal.
For the lamentations of the present generations
Of those foreigners, Love is their only hope!

MOTHER TERESA I LOVE YOU
SAINT TERESA OF KOLKATA
WE LOVE YOU LOVE YOU

Korak Kalighat and Kolkata Welcomes You.
We Love You MaMa!
