A bike rider died and another sustained serious injury when his two wheeler hit RBT Straight in Namrup Tea Estate on Thursday.The accident took place in the morning when Sunil Konwar, the 19 year old son of a BVFCL employee who was riding on the bike lost control over the two wheeler and hit RBT Straight wire fencing."The mishap took place at around 10 pm and the bikers were on the way from Namrup Station Road to the Namrup Town. Sunil died on the spot while Abhinash Gogoi, who was with him admitted to the Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh where he fighting to survive.

Five workers were seriously injured when a fire broke out at Jeypore oil reed after a big explosion on Thursday evening. After the explosion fire broke out in the Oil India Limited run rig van which was later controleed with fire tenders.  The injured were shifted to Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh.

A 5-day-long Jyoti Rabha sangeet workshop concluded in Namrup Sahitya Sabha auditorium  on Sunday. A workshop of Jyoti-Bishnu Rabha songs started in B.V.F.C.L HS School Auditorium, Namrup which is organised by Namrup Swargam Kala Niketan. The programme was inaugurated by Surjya Bhagwati with a speech on the life of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala and Bishnu Prasad Rabha.  Former Dy. Ten years have passed since BSNL services started beeping in Namrup. But interrupted service has forced hundreds of it's customers to shed much to the delight of the private cell service providers. Many customers have alleged that the service remains disrupted for almost 24 hours in the entire locality. Disruption takes place in the form of “not reachable” “cross connection” and call drop's giving huge inconvenience to many customers. Despite repeated complaints, thr things have refused to improve. Amid an escalating man-elephant conflict, a huge herd of wild elephants unleashed no less terror in Joypur area in Namrup on Monday. The elephants who were believed to have come down from the nearby Jeypore Reserved Forest started managed to sneak into Cyko gaon and Panichukia Bongaon before damaging crops, trees and many medicinal plants triggering panic among the local residents. Then these elephants damaged a massive bamboo plantation patch apart from giving the villagers sleepless nights in Panichukia bongaon.
