CIT upgrades into Deemed University

The Central Institute of Technology (CIT),Kokrajhar, a centrally funded institute in lower Assam's Kokrajhar district, has been upgraded to Deemed to be University(Deemed University). The centre and the UGC have recommended the Deemed University on the third week of December last which is paving the way quality education services across the BTAD as well lower Assam districts.

A meeting was organized at CIT conference hall to accord warm welcome and declaration of the Deemed University of the CIT Kokrajhar on Monday since after CIT has been upgraded. 

Chairman of Board of Governing Body of CIT, Prof AK Baruah lighted the lamp to inaugurate the celebration of the programme. 

Prof Baruah said that it is a great pleasure to announce that the CIT has been upgraded to Deemed University.The CIT is now become fully Deemed University with autonomous structure on its running,he said adding that presently  it has sufficient infrastructural capacity to run the University. 

Registrar of the CIT Kokrajhar, Chaitali Brahma while welcoming the Deemed University said that students and citizens are getting well opportunity to acquire higher studies in the CIT in near future. She said that presently there are 1800 students are taking studies in various trades in the CIT which was started on 2006.

'We are very happy and welcome the Deemed University which is giving us an opportunity to run healthy educational institution', she said. 

Mentioned that the CIT was set up under the spirit of BTC Accord in 2003 to facilitate higher educational environment in the region. 

She has extended her  thanks to PM Narendra Modi and also Hagrama Mohilary,BTC chief  and Bodo leaders for this award to people of Bodoland.  In this CIT, 60% percent seats are reserved for the students of Bodoland Territorial Council region and rests are for the state.

Meanwhile, students in the institute have also expressed their happiness as the CIT has been upgraded to the Deemed University. They hoped that the upgraded university will facilitate quality education services in the region.

Among others, BTC additional Principal Secretary Robinson Mushahary, BTC Secretary Carol Narzary, officers from CIT were prominent attendees on the occasion.

A body identified as Jadav Kisku,45, was recovered from Pakriguri village under Salakati police outpost this morning in Kokrajhar.
