Winter session of BTC concludes

Kokrajhar: The winter session of Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly was concluded with a day long scheduled today  at Bodoland Assembly House,Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar.

Speaker of the BTCLegislative Assembly, Tridip Daimary, chired the session. During the session, the house discussed on various departmental development activities,which are included Urban development, Education, Forest, Agriculture, PWD, Irrigation,Transport etc.

The session began with question hour,question put by Opposition MCLA Guneswar Goyary on education department. He has put question on amalgamation of Bijni Vidyapith LP School and Bijni Bandhab High School in education department. In reply to the question,BTC deputy chief and in-charge of  education department Kampa Borgoyary said that amalgamation between Bijni Vidyapith LP School and Bijni Bandhab High School has done so far and left out compound has been given to run Nortb East Military School(Pvt) after a thorough terms and conditions.He said that edu department was working for the welfare and uplift of educational in the districts. He informed that BTC region is still  facing crisis of regular teachers in the schools and so some teachers are appointed on contractual basis to make educational uplifting in the education department. 

Replying to the question of Opposition MCLA Jyotirindra Brahma over implementation of PWD(Road) constructions, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary,who is also in-charge of PWD department  said that council has so far constituted a vigilence committee to check and verify all PWD(Roads) under going constructions in all four districts. He informed that the committee has been instructed to make speedy up to check and verify the projects and report to the house in early.He also said that PWD department has taken up the matter and in this regard several notice have been served to the contractor concerned to expedite progress of the work. He has asked the committee’s members to take necessary verification whether it is to be cancelled or re-cast which are from 2013 to 2015. He informed that council has been trying to take up the PWD(R ) project’s completion till date from the 2016 financial.

Meanwhile, Bodoland People’s Front(BPF) president Hagrama Mohilary has claimed that his party will win 60% seats out of  party candidates contested seats in the Panchayat election as result counting is on today across the state.

Mohilary told that his BPF is winning many seats which will turn 60% percent from the contested seats in the Panchayat elections in Assam where party has majority based.He said that counting of Panchayat election’s result is going on in the state today and final results will show party’s winning by the evening.

On the recent concluded five state Assembly results, he said that results are over and now the time to see coming days.Because,more time is coming to perform better result in the country.

KOKRAJHAR: Noted social activist, former leader of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and close associate of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Yamao Jwhwlao Brahma passed away on Wednesday night at a private hospital in Guwahati. Brahma was admitted at the hospital few months back following some illness. He left a son and daughter and his wife. A day-long workshop on journalism was held at Bodofa House, Baganshali in Kokrajhar on Wednesday. Young journalists from different six districts of the state- Sonitpur, Dhemaji, Udalguri, Baksa, Chirang and Kokrajhar participated the workshop. KOKRAJHAR: Goreswar Town Football Club of Baksa beat Udalguri's Bhergaon Football Club 4-0 goals to lift the trophy in the final match of the BTAD-Army football premier league-2019 held at Kokrajhar Govt HS & MP School playground, Kokrajhar on Sunday. For Goreswar, Jegyas Deka netted first goal in 21st minutes. KOKRAJHAR:  A two-hour sit-in-protest dharna was staged on Wednesday at children park near DC office demanding  justice to the Lafikul Islam Ahmed murder case, and stopping increased atrocities on minority community in the name of doubtful D-voters in the state. KOKRAJHAR: An eight-member delegation of  a special review committee on detention center, led by chairman Debojit Mukherjee visited the detention center in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. The delegation members include Debojit Mukherjee, deputy inspector of police (Border) and chairman of the committee, district judge (retired) H Singh, IGP of Prisons Barnali Sharma, D Saikia, AIG of Prisons and several senior police officials. KOKRAJHAR: The National Press Day-2019 was observed in four districts of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on Saturday. Kokrajhar Press Club and district administration jointly organised the National Press Day here at Basic Training Centre in Kokrajhar to mark the national press day. KOKRAJHAR: Indonesian paragliders have won first prizes in the first-ever Bodoland international Paragliding accuracy championship-2019. The event concluded on Thursday after four day programme at Dangdupur Hill in Kokrajhar district. 68 participants from 11 countries participated in the championship and displayed their paragliding skills. 22 foreign paragliders participanted in the event.
