Bus accident at Sonapur on Tuesday eveing - One killed

Sonapur : One person has been killed and many injured when one bus and one truck collided at 8 pm on Tuesday at Sonapur near Guwahati in NH 37.

The person who has been killed has been identified as Dhal Chetri, Age 35 years. Many of the injured are in critical conditions and have been admitted to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital.

The critically injured people are Arun Vaidya of Sapekhati, Prakash Choudhury ( location unknown) . Sajad Ahmed of Bokakhat, Pranjit Dutta of Birubari in Guwahati, Daulat Singh and Mrs Pabitri Singh of Nepal.

Two people died on the spot while a tractor on which they were riding was dashing against a moving train at an unmanned level crossing near Jogijan in Nagaon on Tuesday. According to an official statement, the incident took place when the tractor entered through the unmanned level crossing collided with the speeding 0865 Up train in the afternoon. Senior Professor and former science dean of Gauhati University Akhil Kumar Medhi is set to be the new Vice Chancellor of the same varsity. At last forest department has managed to arrest poacher Manu Bazbaruah from the city on Monday. According to information, Manu was arrested on his way to the Santipur based forest office. Later he was produced before the session court in the city which remanded him to fourteen days judicial custody. It may be noted that a joint operation by police and forest department seized deer meat, elephant leg, skjin of tigers and a huge cache of arms and ammunition from his Dispur based residence but he was not available. The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) has charged the government with trying once again to divide the cadres in the name of fresh bid for peace talk.
