Civil societies urged for healthy society building
KOKRAJHAR: The non-government organizations (NGO)'s have expressed serious concern over the rising crime graph in the state owing to prevailing rumours and superstitions. The Lower Assam NGO Forum (LANF), an umbrella organization of 30 non-government organizations, in its general session held on Friday at CIT conference hall in Kokrajhar have taken serious note on the issue. The session inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor of Bodoland University, Dr. Hemanta Kumar Baruah was addressed by representatives of all the 30 NGOs of lower Assam besides charitable organizations like Action Aid, ANT, Oxfam Kolkata, Begum Foundation, NERSWN, DBI also participated and spoke at length on relation building and minimizing communication gap between government and civil societies for a healthy and better society.
Superintendent of Police, Kokrajhar Rajen Singh, Additional DC, Kokrajhar Prafulla Chandra Barman, Vice-chairperson of TRIFED, Pratibha Brahma; Oxfam Kolkata head, Animesh Prakash; Action Aid organizer, Mrinal Gohain were among who addressed the session highlighting the need of a better relationship between government and civil society functionaries. The session stressed upon the need of awareness campaigns on superstitions, crimes against women and children in the society. The session, nominated Nurul from the Begum Foundation as the Convenor for the Lower Assam NGO Forum for the session 2018 – 2020 and also formed a five member social media team for handling communication among the groups.

Police administration have vowed for a strict operation against NLFB in Kokrajhar district as NIA has so far circulated most wanted and head count Rs. 10 lakh against the leader of NLFB M Batha.
