Bathou Mahasabha session begins

Kokrajhar: An intellectual meet was organised at Bodofa Cultural complex in Kokrajhar in Tuesday in connection with the celebration of 26th foundation day of the Dularai Bathou Mahasabha.

The day celebration began with two day programme, organised by Dularai Bathou Mahasabha and delegates from different districts across the state.

Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary attended the meet. He emphasized on uplifting of Bathou religious tradition among Bodos. 

Devotee and followers of Bathou religion participated in the celebration.

National Children’s Science Congress held at Dotma

KOKRAJHAR: The 27th Kokrajhar district level National Children’s Science Congress 2019 was held with day-long programme at Dotma Girls’ High School in Kokrajhar on Saturday. The Science Congress session saw large number of participation from different schools of the entire Kokrajhar district. UPPL ready for seat sharing with BPF

United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) president UG Brahma hinted seat sharing possibility with BPF in the upcoming BTC general council elections to be held in 2020. He reacted to the statement of BPF president Hagrama Mohilary. Mohilary said to medi thta BPF is not going for seat sharing but unification with parties. Speaking the media at Kokrajhar Press Club on Friday, Brahma said that there was only preliminary communication among both the parties regarding unification possibility ahead of elections. He has said that UPPL is willing for seat sharing in the upcoming BTC election. "Door is still open to discuss on the seat sharing and communication", Brahma said.  

BPF-BJP-AGP to continue alliance

KOKRAJHAR: Chief of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Hagrama Mohilary said the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) will continue its alliance with BJP and AGP in the upcoming BTC election due next year. Mohilary while attending at a meeting in Kokrajhar on Thursday, said this.  Mohilary, who is also president of BPF said that his party will have its seat sharing with alliance partners and party is hopeful that BPF is getting majority supports in the council. The 22nd Daoharu Mungkhlong Football Trophy 2019 is going to start from September 22 at Dotma HS School ground, Kokrajhar. Mass protest demanding separate Bodoland

"Create separate Bodoland statehood under Article 2 & 3 of Indian constitution through political dialogue, otherwise face strong mass agitations",said president of All Bodo Student's Union (ABSU) Pramod Boro. Cattle smugglers arrested

Police launched a crackdown on illegal cattle smugglers and arrested ten persons on Thursday evening at Srirampur area in Kokrajhar district. Police apprehended a truck bearing registration number AS-01GC-3837 carrying 16 cattle illegally from West Bengal bound for Bangladesh via Meghalaya. Police  also arrested Arun Lyngdoh and Munna Saikia alias Ikram Hussain, president and secretary of the All India Livestocks Trader and Transporters Association, as they were escorting the illegal cattle truck.
