Along with other parts of the world, Assam also observed the AIDS Day on Saturday with the message: STOP AIDS: KEEP THE PROMISE-LEADERSHIP.
The state has began its year long AIDS awareness drive from Saturday.
A series of programmes was taken up across the state to mark the occasion.
In his message on the occasion,Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has hoped that the AIDS awareness drive will help the society give a fruitful fight against the fatal AIDS.
Minister for health and family welfare Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma also hoped that the people of all section will come out to prevent the AIDS from spreading and the yearlong campaign against this dreaded AIDS will have a long term effect.
