Concern over repeated rape incidents
MARGHERITA: Margherita AASU unit submitted a memorandum to Margherita SDO(civil) expressing grave concern over the steep rise in the rape incidents in the sub division.
AASU leaders Chintu Gogoi and Prashanta Gogoi said that growing crimes of drug addiction has helped the anti social elements to rear ugly heads in many pickets and that this has directly or indirectly been responsible for the non stopped incidents of sexual crimes.
Prashanta Gogoi said,” we demand immediate arrest of the rape accused for trial in the Fast Track Court.”

MARGHERITA: The Margherita Police on Saturday arrested four youths after the All Assam Schedule Caste Youth Federation Central Committee leaders tried to blackmail a local SBI employee. Identified as Jayanto Das(38) Ripu Das(32),Bolendra Das(37) and Pabitra Das, they allegedly demanded ₹7 lakh from the bank employee charging him of possessing a fake caste certificate, an allegation which the banker denied. The bank employee then lodged a formal complaint before the police who arrested the youths. MARGHERITA: An unclaimed body strikes no less sensation in Margherita after it was recovered on Wednesday. The unidentified body of a youth, who was believed to have been murdered, was spotted at Tiniali on the National Highway 38. The possibility of suicide is also not ruled out since the body bore no marks of injury. After registering a case bearing No 1/2018, the police have sent the body for post mortem.
