Broad day light theft cases in Udalguri

UDALGURI,March 21: Two sensational incidents of broad daylight burglary rattled Udalguri on Wednesday.

In the first incident, two thieves  lifted a bag containing cash amount of Rs.36,000 from the LIC Satellite Office of Harisinga area in Udaguri which belonged to Narayan  Das.
 
In another case, two miscreants robbed Chandra Kanta Kumar was robbed by two people in broad daylight near the Udalguri market.
 It took place as Kumar came out from a bank withdrawing his salary amount of Rs 25,000. A miscreant asked him to clean him saying something he had. As Das started checking, another took the bag and vanished.
However, no lookers chased and caught before being handed over to police.

Udalguri police apprehends robber

UDALGURI: The Udalguri police led by DSP(Hq), Moidul Islam and assisted by Udalguri O.C, Narayan Patangia apprehended one Basanta Rabha from Sastrapara area under Harisinga P.S in Udalguri on Friday.The accused is allegedly involved in a broad daylight robbery of seven lakhs from two oil depot workers near Ambagaon of Harisinga on July 24 last.According to the workers they were accosted by a group of two men who snatched the bag containing the money.Though the workers chased the robbers they fled the scene. 3 of a family gets lifer for murder

Man trampled to death by wild jumbos

UDALGURI: The Indo-Bhutan border villages in Udalguri district-region fraught with human-animal conflict and bloodshed and continue to witness brutality of wild jumbos.  In yet another incident, one Mardia Munda (25), a tea garden labour , was trampled to death by wild jumbos at Nalanadi under Dimakuchi PS in Udalguri district on Wednesday.Reportedly, the labour was on his way back home after plucking green leaves when he was confronted by wild jumbo trampling him to death. The local villagers witnessed his soul-less body at about 3 pm when the police and forest officials reached the spot. His body has been retrieved and sent for post-mortem.

Bandh disrupts normal life in Udalguri
