Poets hold solemn summit in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: An all India multi-lingual poet's meet evoked encouraging response as it took place at Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar on Monday

 

  At-least 24 noted poets across the country, representing all languages which are included in the eight scheduled of Indian constitution, apart from Bodo,Assamese,Hindi,Bengali,Dogri,Sanskrit,Santhali,Nepali etc are participating in the meet.

 

 The meet was organized by Sahitya Academy of India and Bodo Writers Academy to mark the celebration, and was chaired by eminent Hindi poet from Kashmir Mohan Singh. Sahitya Akademy awardees Surath Narzary, Dr Mangalsigh Hazoary,president of the Bodo Somaj Rajendra Nath Boro,president of the Bodo Writers Academy Rajen Basumatary, noted writer from Delhi Dr Suresh Rituparna were graced as guests on the occasion.

  The poets who participated include Sarjoo Katkar ( Kannada) , Kushal Dutta ( Assemese) , Sebanti Ghosh ( Bengali) , Dhirju Jyoti Basumatary ( Bodo) , Chandra Subadini Devi ( Monipuri) , Surath Narzary ( Bodo) ,  Manshoor Balihali ( Kashmiri) , Santi Basumatary ( Bodo) , Anju Narzary ( Bodo) , Payyanur Ramesh Pai ( Kankani) , Phool Chandra Jha Praveen ( Maithali) , Aparna Mohanty ( Odia) , Aazim Kohli ( Urdu) , O.P. Suresh ( Malayalam) , Sumati Lande ( Marathi) , Uday Thulung ( Nepali) , Madan Mohan Soren ( Santhali) , Veena Shringi ( Sindhi) , Nesamithran ( Tamil) , Narayan Das ( Sanskrit).

 

Dr Rituparna said that the meet was a good initiative taken from Bodo writers academy and Sahitya Academy.

President of Bodo Writers Academy Rajen Basumatary said that eminent poets from different states of the country participated the event and presented their literary creations.

Deputy director of the Sahitya Akademy Rakesh Kumar informed that the akademy was working to the uplift and language development of Bodo and its literary creations in the country.

Guwahati: The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA-I) has alleged a nefarious conspiracy by police and the army to crush their spine, engaging a section of youths who were dispatched to the jungles to join the rebel outfit. The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has refuted reports that some more leaders would soon desert the party. According to some reports, among others,  former minister and MP Prodyut Bordoloi, former minister and MLA Rockeybool Hussain, and former minister Bismita Gogoi would quit the party at any time. New Delhi : In yet another significant development in the field of politics,  Assam's former Congress president and outgoing Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora quits the party and joined TMC on Sunday. Guwahat: AAP has alleged a nefarious attempt by BJP in Guwahati to upset it's prospect for the upcoming GMC polls.  Talking to Assam Times, a senior leader of the party said that BJP/s youth wing has damaged a hoarding in Guwahati on Monday.  He said that this was followed by the removal of a few other AAP banners and hoardings in the Capital city by the administration.  Later in a statement, the newly emerging party said that BJP's the largest ever political party on the planet was rattling at the stepped up electioneering by a very small party which is in power only in two states.  AAP is contesting 40 wards out of 60 in the GMC polls slated for April 22.
Guwahati: The recent landslide victory in Punjab seems to be a morale booster for the Aam Admi Party in Guwahati in the run up to the Guwahati Municipal Corporation election slated for April 22. New Delhi: The Centre has withdrawn AFSPA  1958 from 24 districts in view of an improved law and order situation. According to the notification, it would come into force from April 1,2022. Apart from the hills districts, AFSPA will be in force in Sivasagar, Jorhat,  Tinsukia.  Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked the Centre for the decision and hoped that the Act would be a thing of the past for the entire state in the near future.
