ULFA-I rebel held

 

MARGHERITA: Army claimed to have captured yet another dreaded ULFA-I rebel who played a major role in the shoot out at a tea garden in Barhat last month.

He is one other than Deepjoyti Gogoi whom army’s DAO division attested on Monday night and seized a pistol and four live rounds of bullets from his possession.
 During interrogation he confessed to have possessed these to carry out extortion.

Deepjyoti’s name surfaced as army interrogated Pranob Gogoi @ Pinku Asom who was arrested in this connection.

Acting on a tip  off, army conducted a raid in  Lafera Gaon where the rebel was attested. Interrogation is going on.

"Security Forces have been consistently working towards preventing the nefarious designs of the insurgents and to maintain greater peace in the regions of upper Assam. This arrest indicated the promptness and efficiency of the SF in apprehending Forces inimical to the Assamese people. The security forces will not allow such heinous acts go unpunished", said an army official.
