UDALGURI: The Gorkha students in BTAD areas are not at all happy with BTC. The council has been running without anybody to represent them. This was what the All Assam Gorkha Students' Union has written to Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi who has assured them of steps to address the concern. In the memorandum to Mukhi, the student organization deplored that even after three years BTC has not nominated even a single Gorkha person to represent them against the provision of six persosn.
The three member delegation who called on the Governor at the Raj Bhawan urged him to take steps to ensure land pattas to the Gorkha people in the BTAD areas. The delegation comprised Dimbeswar Upadhyaya, the adviser, John Chouhan, the president, and Rohit Kumar Dahal, the general secretary of BTC region committee, AAGSU. They further demanded an early appointment of Nepali language teachers in the schools in the Nepali dominated areas in BTAD.
