MARGHERITA: Ten days after ULFA-I kidnapped him at gunpoint, Arunav Phukan has reached his home in Jagun unhurt on Monday morning.
A team of security force, relatives have brought him back his parents hours after he was left at Joyrampur in Arunachal Pradesh in the morning.
Initially, he called up his mother and confirmed his release who wad in touch with police. Policemen received him and toom him to a local hospital in Arunachal Pradesh for check up.
Then he was brought to Jagun police station for some formality and the sent to his parents. Talking to the reporters who were waiting outside his residents, Arunav said he was kept comfortably and was not tortured.
A group of 6/7 rebels halted him as he was in his way to visit their stone querry in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on December 15.
Dilip Phukan, a leading businessman in Tinsukia believed to have received extortion notice from ULFA-I before the rebel outfit kidnapped his son.
The Phukans have denied paying ransom to ensure safe release of his son. But sources told www.assamtimes.org that an asteonomical amount was transacted with the rebels two or three days back.
