Injured elephant battling with death
An adult elephant is engaged in a grim battle with death at a pit in Gossaigaon after it sustained injury on Thursday.
The animal in dire strait was spotted at Nandipur near Kachugaon forest division office in Kokrajhar district. According to eye witnesses, a herd of 4-5 elephant reached the Nandipur near Kachugaon division in thr wee hours in search of food across the paddy crops along the Kachugaon forest.
Villagers busted firecrackers to disperse these deadly animal to protect the paddy field where one of the elephants was caught in a deep pit.
Forest officials and doctors of IFAW-WTI rushed the spot in the early morning and rescued the elephant from the muddy spot.The elephant was found on serious injuries on his left body and noticed marked of 3-4 rounds of bullet riddled on the back body.
Doctor from International Fund for Animal Welfare-Wildlife Trust of India(IFAW-WTI), Kokrajhar rescue centre rushed the spot and given first aid treatment to the injury elephant.The elephant face critical condition of health so far. The condition of the elephnat is not so good as seeing critical till now.
Experts have also arrived at the spot to provide speedy recovery of injury elephant and necessary measures are on to make recovery of elephant.
Doctors from IFAW-WTI have been initiating necessary medical treatment for the injury elephand and taking stern measure for recovery from ill health.
Dr Daoharu Boro, doctor from IFAW-WTI,Kokrajhar said the elephant has been found marked 3-4 rounds of bullet injuries on its back body. He said that the elephant face serious injuries besides bullet injury.
‘Condition of the elephant was not so good,still face critical.Best effords are being initiated to make early recovery injury elephant’,he said.

More than sixteen hundred NDFB cadres today formally laid down arms.
In a ceremony organised at GMCH auditorium in the presence of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal 1615 cadres of the outfit submitted their arms before the government authority.
Welcoming them to the mainstream chief minister Sonowal hoped that the Paresh Baruah-led ULFA(I) would follow the path of the NDFB.
A few days ago the government signed a tripritite peace treaty with all the factions of the NDFB. In the treaty the Centre and state government, reportedly, promised to upgrade the BTAD as BTR.
Several organisations including AAKRASU and ABAMSU have reportedly, called a 12-hour-long Assam bandh on January27 in protest against proposed UTC for BTAD.
These organisations are apprehensive that the Union government is going to upgrade the BTC as UTC.
Already, they have warned the Union government to abdicate such move.
Several organistions have expressed resentment over the Centre's move to upgrade the Bodo Territorial Council as Union Territorial Council.
According to sources the Centre would soon sign a peace pact with the NDFB .
In the pact upgradation of the BTC as a UTC would likely to take place, sources revealed.
Opposing the move AKRASU, ABAMSU and many other organistaions of the BTAD have warned the Union government to abdicate such decision.
These organisations have also termed the proposal as undemocratic.
