Make Dewali pollution free occasion
At a time when the country is preparing to celebrate Diwali by bursting crackers in a big way a non governmental organization has urged the people to avoid the traditional practice saying that it would be an agent of environmental disaster.
Talking to Assam Times, the NGO popularly named as Small Steps founder
Dr. Prodip Kumar Sahoo urged his colleagues and students of Lanka Junior college to avoid bursting if so much crackers saying that the toxic subtances released thereof would affects the environment.
Dr.Sahoo Said, "We request the public not to pollute the environment with noise and smoke and celebrate Deepawali, with decorative lights, taking blessings of elder one's. Many birds and animals are scared with the sounds caused by crackers and many living being die's due to smoke released by burning fire crackers"
Principal N Debnath and faculty members of the college, wrote on placards to spread the message of pollution free Deepawali and left their signature on the board.
Students took oath to protect nature from pollution created by fire crackers, this diwali and they also committed to spread the knowledge in the society as far as possible.

Hojai: Two wild elephants died due to lightning strike in the Lankajan Dorjeesheet area under Hojai district along the Hojai-Karbi Anglong border on Sunday night.
