Youth held for extortion charge

 The  Udalguri police held a youth on Wednesday for allegedly trying to extort money from a doctor.

Identified as Dipankar Bora allegedly money from Udalguri Civil Hospital physician Dr. Bhagirath Dey who lodged a complaint with the police. They allegedly demanded money along with his accomplice Gusafang Basumatari in the name of a banned militant outfit.

They threatened to kidnap his son for not paying Rs. 2,20,00. Acting on the allegation, police picked up Dipankar to be arrested after interrogation.
