Prag journo dies in mishap

Electronic Media Forum Assam (EMFA) expresses shock at the sudden demise of Rima Sarma, a popular cultural news presenter of Prag News, following an accident on Saturday night at Bhangagarh locality of the city.

The forum also wishes early recovery of another city based television scribe, who was admitted to GMCH after facing an attack from miscreants last night. Biman Kalita of News Live, who was stabbed last night at Dhirenpara locality, is still in the hospital.

Saddened by the untimely demise of Rima, the forum also mentions that two more scribes are presently undergoing treatment in separate hospitals of the city. Gautam Hazarika of DY365 and Kushal Lahan of Amar Asom were admitted to hospitals on 15 August following after a massive brain stroke and road accident respectively.

Assam flood scene turns worse on Saturday claiming ten live during the last 24 hours. After a brief respite the Brahmaputra and it's tributeries are overflowing to sumberge at least 15 district.  According to government, Kokrajhar alone has lost six people during since Thursday. Two people have been washed in Dhemaji and one each in Marigaon and and Lakhimpur.  The worst hit district this time is Majuli where surging waters believed to washed away a huge part of am embankment displacing many people.  Flood waters have been working no less havoc in Kaziranga where the animals are shifting to highland to get rid of this perennial problem.
The weekly evening OPD clinic at Guwahati Press Club on Saturday (12 August 2017) was conducted by the city based physiotherapist Dr Kangkan Talukdar. Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) expresses concern over the killing of another journalist to increase the tally of victims up to five in the last seven months of 2017 in India. The forum demands a proper probe into the incident relating to the murder of television journalist Surender Singh Rana on 29 July in Haryana. Dr Vijay Sankaran (neurosurgeon) from SIMS Chennai Hospital will attend tomorrow’s (5 August) evening OPD clinic at Guwahati Press Club. The camp will begin at 2.30 pm and conclude by 4.30 pm. A 5.4 magnitude earthquake jolted Manipur on Thursday morning striking panic button for many people who feared the rerun of the 2015 massive jolt.
