Brisk preparations to celebrate I Day

Defying rebel diktat, Assam is gearing up to celebrate the Independence Day with a massive security arrangement on Tuesday. 

Police and para military forces are fanning in the nook and corner of the north eastern state where ULFA(I) and NDFB-S along with other north eastern rebel outfits announced general strike asking the people to boycott the celebration. 

The capital city of Guwahati is being fortified with  security forces stepping up checking and patrolling. Bus stops, railway stations, gas and oil installations are being heavily guarded to thwart any rebel strike.

Heavy security forces have been deployed at the Khanapara Veterinary Playground where chief minister Sarbanabda Sonowal will unfurl tri colour before the march past by army, police, para military forces and NCC. Cultural shows are also lined up on the occasion. 

His cabinet colleagues are leaving for their assigned district headquarters on Sunday afternoon to unfurl the flag in the morning. All district administrations are beginning thr celebrations from Sunday with competitions among the students. 

 

A beefed up security is in sight along the Indo-Bangladesh border apprehending strike by the disrupting forces.
