Elephants crushed to death

Speeding train claimed two more elephants in Jorhat district sending shockwaves among the animal lovers on Thursday.

The incident took place at Nakochari near Mariani station where the Intercity Express rammed into the two animals from the Gibon wild life sanctuary tried to cross the railway tracks on Thursday wee hours.

Animal lovers thronged the spot and removed the carcasses with tearful eyes. These bizarre incidents are not new. In the past speeding trains crushed to death several elephants on the railway tracks.
