Come Monday. Amapti wears a festive look since preparations are afoot to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the South West Garo Hills.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma is scheduled to attend the day celebration at the district headquarters on Monday. All departments of the five year old district are gearing up to outline their performance and achievement during the celebrations.
A few of these departments is preparing to make the people aware of the various welfare schemes meant to uplift the common people. It would be another focus of the celebrations.
The celebration is taking place at Ampati Students' Field on Monday morning with a huge gathering at 11.30 in the morning where Dr Sangma and his senior cabinet colleagues are scheduled to attend. Before that the district administration is taking out an open marathon early in the morning. A cultural programme and rock show is expected to pull huge crowd towards the evening aimed at providing a platform for local talents.
The Meghalaya Government opened the district in 2012 in the run up to the assembly polls by for better governance.
