Fisherman nets rare fish in Namrup

A rare black thorn fish pulled huge crowed after it was rescued at a local market in Namrup on Monday which later was rescued for proper conservation by thr forest department.

The unique creature of 30 cm length was brought to the BVFCL namghar chariali by a retailer Dipankar Gogoi who procured it  from a local fisherman. The fisherman is believed to have caught it in a deep drain at Sonari tiniali.

As the retailer Gogoi was selling fish in the market in the evening, suddenly the rare fish caught the attention of Sishuram Gogoi who rescued it.

Gogoi, who happens to be the brand ambassador of the state forest department called up the his officials and handed over the fish to them to be properly conserved.

Namrup: Rebel elements still keep unleashing terror in many parts in the form of extortion apart from recruitment drive even in the festive season. Army and police apprehended an ULFA(I) rebel during a joint operation in Sivasagar district on Saturday who was said to have been carrying extortion and recruitment on behalf of the rebel outfit. Acting on a tip off army jawans from Maibela and Joysagar along with police launched a joint crackdown in Bokota near Nemuguri where, the rebel identified as Navadeep Chetia was arrested.
