AASU fetes meritorious students
Like every year the Tangla College unit AASU in co-ordination with Tangla anchalik AASU (All Assam Students' Union ) feted the meritorious students who passed out last HSLC exam with flying colors.Gaurav Patowary 4th rank holder in HS Commerce and Dipankar Saha 10th rank holder in HS 2017 along with five Ph d. degree holders of the greater Tangla area were also feted on the ocassion here at the Bordoloi Bhawan premises on Sunday.
Attending the programme as chief guest Dr.Arupjyoti Chowdhury Dean of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University said," Science and its inventions should be blessing for mankind but contrary to that the scientic advancent has been the luxury of the elite class far away from the common people due to detrimental policies of the government."
Speaking on the ocassion as appointed speaker Lurinjyoti Gogoi General Secretary AASU called on on the students for all round development. He said only academic education lacking moral and social ethics would not leave a mark of a person in long run. He lamented the government for adopting pro-policies for English medium students in TET recruitment hampering vernacular medium students. Earlier the programme was inaugurated by Jayanta Kr. Bhattacharya Assistant General Secretary AASU. The purpose of the medting was conveyed by Pranjal Deka. The programme was anchored by popular actress Munmi Kalita and artiste Partha Pratim Pathak. An interactive session was also held between the guests and students.In the felicitation programme as many as 308 meritious students who passed out HSLC with flying colors were feted with phulam gamosa,mementos.

UDALGURI: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports of the alleged incident of police atrocities on a doctor in Chirang district on Friday.
AHRC has issued a notice to the District Magistrate, Chirang to cause an inquiry into the incident where media reports stated that the Officer-in-Charge of Amguri PS in Chirang District not only assaulted Dr. Madhurjya Kakati, in-charge of the Amteka Mini PHC but also made him to kneel down along with two others for not wearing masks.

TANGLA: A devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.
Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs to the ground within minutes.
The house belongs to Fakira Ansari, Manik Ali,Bhim Ram,Raj Kumar Prasad,Akon Rabha and Sankar Basfor.

UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
While talking to this correspondent, Mithu Sarksr informed that the NGO has been instrumental to rescue young ones of hog deers, wild elephants, tiger cubs in the near past too and till date, it has been able to rescue such animals which came to their notice.

TANGLA, May 20: In an unfortunate turn of event a 32 year old reputed businessman Roshan Patowary an inhabitant of Ward No. 4 of Tangla town in Udalguri district was electrocuted to death while fitting an inverter battery at his residence at about 8 pm on Tuesday night.
