Girls outshine boys in Manipur matric

Once again girls outshone boys in Manipur in the HSLC examination the result of which was declared on Saturday.

Priyanka Moirangthem of Nirmalabas High School, Imphal secured the first position, Thounaojam Joylity bagged the second position and Laishram Librada Singh got the third position in the Class 10 exam.

Last year, the top three positions were secured by girls from Nirmalabas and Little Flower Schools respectively with letter marks on all subjects in the High School Leaving School Certificate examination conducted by Board of Secondary School Manipur (BSEM).

The pass percentage was pegged at 66.70, which showed a tad higher than last year’s 61.50 per cent. A total of 34, 8299 students appeared for the Class 10 exam 2017.

Education Minister Th Radheshyam released the result in the afternoon at the BSEM office, Babupara.

Declaring the BSE Class 10 result, the minister stated, “The main objective of the government is to produce good quality students.”

He expressed happiness at this year’s result which was fairly good.

Thoubal and Kakching districts have the highest pass percentage at 79.82 followed by Tamenglong and Noney districts at 73.08. 

A total of 25, 500 students from different private schools took the examination while a total of 7, 559 students from government schools and 785 from government aided schools appeared it.
