Career awareness in Dhekiajuli

The Sonitpur District All Rabha Students’ Union (ARSU) committee in collaboration with Rabha Community Education Cell/ARSU organized a career awareness programme for the students appearing matric and Higher Secondary on May 28 at Rakshashmari ME School, Dhekiajuli, Sonitpur. The programme was led by Ranjan K Baruah, Director, North East Youth Foundation, Guwahati and covered several important points regarding selection of subjects after matriculation and the career path ahead. He dealt with certain career options available for students of Arts, Science and Commerce streams. In addition to academic careers, he also talked about entrepreneurship, administrative services, and jobs in corporate sectors including the skills required for those careers. Further, he emphasised on developing self-confidence and positive mindset before or during the pursuit of a specific career. Mr. Baruah also encouraged the youth who are sitting idle after graduation to go for some skill oriented training/courses based on their interests and potential skill.

The session was very lively and full of interaction. The students were very curious to know about the various career options available at different level from the three streams mentioned above. Even the parents present in the session asked questions relating to various career options. It was really inspiring and motivating for the counsellor and the organizers.
