New Campus of College of fisheries inaugurated
Union minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain on Wednesday Inaugurated a new campus of College of fisheries,Raha. The Campus was bulit at a cost of Rs. 16 Crore. The ceremony was also graced by State Agriculture minister Atul Bora, Vice chancellor of Assam Agriculture University Dr. Kamal Malla Bujarboruah, Deputy Commissioner of Nagaon Shamsher Singh, Dean, College of fisheries Dr. Krishnakanta Tamuly and many other dignitaries.

Amid traditional fanfare the Christians across the state are celebrating X-Mas along with other parts of the globe on Thursday. The churches are teeming with the visitors to participate in the prayers seeking divine help to restore love, peace and good will among all people irrespective of caste, creed, community. Same enthusiasm gripped the church premises in the state from Wednesday when people of all ages and all walks of live participated in the midnight carols to mark the birth of the Jesus. The dense fog and darkness of the night failed to grip on Wednesday in the face of the Christmas trees that dazzled every households of the Christians. A section of the churches are specially praying for the carnage and flood victims.

Police on Saturday claimed to have killed a top KLO leader at an encounter in Kokrajhar on Saturday.
Identified as Samar Ray alias Rambo, the Kokrajhar district commander was killed in the gunfight at Seshapani area under Kokrajhar police station in the afternoon. Acting on a tip off, police launched an operation in the were the KLO member was spotted who carried n amount of Rs 5 lakhs in cash over his head at around 3 pm.
Police further claimed to have recovered one 7.65 mm pistol, 4 live ammunitions, one magazine, 2 mobile sets from the slain militant. He hailed from Chandrapara Dawliguri village in Kokrajhar. Another KLO leader managed to escape the police. Search operation is going on.

A mob of about 5000 people at Raid Kyrdem village, Meghalaya on Monday afternoon set on fire five houses on suspicious of practicing witched craft at Mawbesien Village in Ri Bhoi District under Uniam Police Station.
The mob at Raid Kyrdem village comprising residents from of eleven villages gathered at Mawbesein village on 20-08-07 afternoon and set on fire the five houses belong to one Dhon Nongkynrieh. Apart from this, they have also burnt two vehicles and the rice mill owned by the family. Dhon Nongkynrieh's family comprises of sixteen people left the village for safety.
In the mean time, the Superintendent of police and the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi District arrived on the spot but they could not control the mob. The police have used abt 60 rounds of blank fires to disperse the mob but without success.
