3 ACS officers arrested in job scam

Amid the probe in the job for cash scam in the Assam Public Service Commission, police have arrested three newly appointed ACS officers on Wednesday alleging their involvement.

Identified as Bhaskarjyoti Dev  Sharma, the circle officer of Helem in Biswanath Chariali was picked up by police early in the morning.

Police have arrested Amit Sarma, the circle officer of Sipahjar from his residence in the morning and simultaneously another circle officer from Nalbari Bhaskar Dutta was arrested in the same allegation of procuring jobs for money.

Police, probing the scam confirmed the allegations against the trio acting on the forensic report of their answer scripts. Then they got administrative nod for action against them.

A team of senior police officers has been interrogating the three controversial officers who would be produced before a special court.

GUWAHATI:A special court in Guwahati on Thursday reserved the ruling on a set of bail pleas moved by over 20 ACS, APS and allied service officers who have been arrested in the APSC job scam. According to information, the special court heard the entire set of bail pleas from their appointed lawyers and reserved the ruling which is expected in a day or two. NAGAON: Four persons died and at least 25 others sustained injury when the passenger bus in which they were travelling collided it's head on a truck in Nagaon on Thursday. The accident took place early in the morning on the National Highway No 37 at Mensing area near Kaliabor where three passengers died on the spot. Another died as he along with injured others were rushed to a local hospital in Jakhalabandha. Local residents here have blamed the dense fogs that disrupted the visibility when the loaded truck and the mini bus were coming from opposite directions.

GUWAHATI:Veteran actor Biju Phukan is dead. He was 70. Phukan, the doyen of Assamese film world suddenly died of cardiac arrestin the afternoon. According to information, Phukan, who was not keeping well for the last couple of days suddenly fell seriously ill and his family members rushed him to the Apollo Hospital in Guwahati and died minutes after he was admitted in ICU. NEW DELHI: The Supreme court has reserved its judgment on the validity or acceptability of panchayat documents in the NRC works after it heard both sides on Wednesday. A division bench of the country's apex court comprising Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice RF Nariman completed hearing of the case and reserved the ruling. The bench is hearing the petition on the time for publication of the much-awaited NRC draft along with border fencing issue on November 29 and 30. The home ministry moved a petition before the top court recently seeking permission to extend the date for publication of NRC draft till July 31, 2018 instead of December 31, 2018 triggering huge protest in the state.  
TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia police have averted a huge explosion in the state as they seized some explosive materials from a passenger bus in Jagun on Wednesday. Acting on a tip off, a police team in Jagun conducted a checking on the bus which was coming from Arunachal Pradesh where a huge cache of RDX was found inside a bag. The police then questioned the driver, assistants of the bus along with the passengers. But later the passengers were allowed to go and detained the driver and his assistants for further interrogation. "Investigation is going on. Right now we are not in a position to divulge the findings in detail," said a senior police officer in Jagun.
The government is planning an organic revolution for the country, and the ICAR-National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning (NBSS&LUP) has come to its aid by identifying areas holding high potential for the same.
