Agri officer dies

Shikha Bora, Agricultural Development Officer, posted at Soil Survey Office, Department of Agriculture,Assam; Ulubari , Guwahati died Sunday night at her official quarter , Ulubari, Guwahati, due to illness . She was around  40.

She was a very sincere officer of the Agriculture Department. She is popular because of her politeness and simplicity . Her death was widely mourned in the Agriculture Department , Assam. 

She leaves behind her husband,relatives and colleagues.

Assam records highest rice output in 57 yrs

The Assam could record the highest rice production in 2008-09 fiscal, for a period of 57 years since 1951. This has also helped it attain a surplus of 1.78 lakh MT in matters of rice, against a requirement of 38.92 lakh MT, in that fiscal. The field data of this record rice production have been compiled only recently by the official circles. Official circles here said that the State produced a total of 40, 69, 986 MT of rice during the said fiscal. State seeks Rs 630 crore from Centre

The State Agriculture Department has demanded an assistance of Rs. 630.61 crore from the Central Government to overcome the impact of the drought-like situation it has faced this monsoon. Agriculture minister stress on farm mechanization

Pramila Rani Brahma, Agriculture Minister, Assam has given stress upon farm mechanization in the state to ensure double cropping and to attract new generation towards agricultural sector.
