Journey from Guwahati to Machhiwara

At a time when travel literature had yet to flourish in the east and north eastern regions of India an exceptional book hits yen market with all promise. Behind the book is Rajiv Bakshi, a banker by profession who has turned 65 .

Comprising 20 short stories dealing the tiny tales of  tragedy , comedy , wit & humour the book is fetching no less response in the market in the north east which finds a beautiful manifestation of the region and its people.

Due to the excellent reviews of the book on various social networking sites & on Amazon , Good Reads , the book has grown in size & number of countries it has entered . Book is now in 17 countries including USA , Canada , England , Spain , Pakistan , Australia , Scotland and a few other countries . Book is in 125 libraries all over India & 3 libraries in USA .

After the publication of book , yhe Ludhiana based author has started writing for various magazines & newspapers . 3 Middles written by him have been published in Tribune group of newspapers , 5 short stories penned by him have been published in Women's Era magazine & one short story has been published in Alive magazine .

His interview was carried by FM Gold Ludhiana a few months back . He is now reciting one of his stories from his book : Journey from Guwahati to Machhiwara in English programme : Spectrum from All India Radio Jallandhar  on April 24 at 4.05 pm on 873 KHZ ( AM ) .

GUWAHATI: Asst Manager of SBI Dadara Branch Junu Sarma was shot dead from point blank range by two armed motor cycle borne miscreants at Agiathori under Amingaon PS in Kamrup on Tuesday evening. When the her car slowed down at Agiathori area, two man on a motorbike wearing helmets broke the window pane of the car and shot her from close range,police said.Her driver rushed her to NH Narayana hospital and later referred to GMCH where she was declared brought dead.The driver has been detained for questioning, police said adding that the cause of the attack is yet to be ascertained.

Guwahati: Lone protester in the streets of Guwahati against all evils and an acclaimed musician Kishor Giri passes away this morning (7 October 2018). Giri, who lived in Kharghuli hill of the city with his family, was found dead at around 9.30 am. His daughters, who live in Bangalore, are arriving in the city by the evening. Guwahati: One of Charlie Chaplin's most celebrated works, The Gold Rush will be screened at Guwahati Press Club on Friday (28 September, starting at 5 pm).
