The 25th Rongjali Bwisagu celebration which got underway on Saturday concluded here at Tangla on Sunday. The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) Udalguri district commiittee along with Tangla regional unit in a bid to usher brotherhood,love and prosperity among all sections of the society, observed 25th Rongjali Bwisagu (Rongali Bihu) at Tangla Bordoloi Bhawan field.
As a part of the second day's programme a multi diverse cultural rally representing various ethnic communities was taken throughout the town. The rally was flagged off by Dr. Luke Daimari Principal of Udalguri College which was followed by open session inauguration by Dr. Liladhar Brahma retired medical officer. Cultural troupes representing Bodo, Mishing,Tiwa,Assamese, Rabha and Adivasi community performed on the ocassion. The programme was attended as chief guest by Founder-chief of National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) D.R. Nabla alias Ranjan Daimary. Daimary said the student body had been organizing the Rongjali Bwisagu every year with an aim to create peaceful coexistence among all sections of the society. He said that Bwisagu (Bihu) is a new day and people of the region should start up with new ideas and thinkings. He also called upon the people to restore brotherhood among all sections of the society and hoped that the new year would bring total peace and tranquility in the region.
Others who spoke on the open session include Dr. Liladhar Brahma ,Dr. Pramila Boro among others. The open session was presided over by Ratendra Daimary President of Udalguri district committee ABSU.The activists of the ABSU, students of different colleges and general masses paid respect to elders and took the blessings on the occasion. Leaders of different organizations, intellectuals, senior citizens including secretary of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Kameswar Boro,college lecturers and people from all walks of life took part in the programme.
