Hundreds of  Panchayat Karmachari from BTAD districts joined hands in the sit-in-dharna programme in front of DC office in Kokrajhar on Wednesday demanding immediate solution of various demand and grievances, which included regularisation of jobs,release of salaries to the Karmachari in the region.

Agitators from four districts of BTAD with banner,placards staged dharna under the bnaner of BTAD Panchayat Casual Employee Association shouted slogans for demnading early initiative while bringing solutions of the Karmachari who are dropped from job since after creation of BTC in 2003 which was started from 11 am for three-hour.

There are still 188 panchayat karmachari in the BTAD region who were engaged and appointed prior to 1993 by Assam government to execute government duty and responsibilities in the Panchayat level.

A memorandum was also submitted to BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary through Kokrajhar Deputy Comssioner.

In BTAD region,panchayat employees are dropped in their jobs and since they become function less as BTC has no any panchayat activities as per the Sixth Scheduled area.They demanded that BTC administration should take proper policy while absorbing regularisation of panchayat employees so that they could get job regularisation in their life.

Nareswar Deka,president and Bipin Chandra Boro,secretary of the association demanded early solution of the problem and issues of the panchayat employees in the council region.They put pressure BTC administration for taking measures for the employees.

Kokrajhar: Former BTC member of council legislative assembly (MCLA)  Rajendra Narzary passes away on Sunday around 2.30 pm at a private hospital in Guwahati. He was in his 50s. He leaves behind wife Ajanta Narzary, a school teacher, two sons. His body is being brought to his native place in Gossaigaon. He last rites will be performed tomorrow. Kokrajhar:  A massive fire has gutted  at Dadgiri Bazar along the Indo-Bhutan border in Chiang district. The fire broke out  due to cylinder explosion at a hotel that engulfed to the nearby shops. 11 shops were destroyed in the fire. The incident took place by 3.30 am in the early morning on Saturday. The gutted shops includ rice shops ,crocery and few saloons. Nearly 7 lakhs worth of properties reportedly destroyed in the fire.
Kokrajhar: Four persons, including a cadre of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-S) were arrested by security forces from different two places in Kokrajhar and Chirang district on Wednesday. According to Police,based on a tiptop information about movement of NDFB cadres, a joint operation was launched by Gossaigaon police alongwith Army and CRPF Cobra Battalion in Auxiguri village under Kachugaon police station in Kokrajhar disrict in the early morning and managed to arrest a cadre with arms.The cadre was identified as Rohiton Narzary (33) of Oxiguri village under Soraibil police outpost. Kokrajhar,May 25: Kokrajhar police,RPF,ABSU apprehended three suspected human traffickers and rescued two minor girls from traffickers at Brahmaputra train at Kokrajhar rail station this evening. The persons were tried to  trafficked girls to Delhi keeping lobby of jobs.The rescued girls are from Biswanath Chariali and they  boarded train at Rangia station. Three persons were killed and six others serious injuried due to lightning at various places in Kokrajhar district on Saturday. Nareswar Basumatary (55) Lakhan Basumatary (35) of Takumpur, Kachugaon dies when they were struck by lightning in the early morning of Saturday. Manik Basumatary (3) of the same family received serious injury at the same incident. Kokrajhar:  Kokrajhar police apprehended six Bangladeshis (declared foreigners) from Gossaigaon subdivision in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday. Based on the court order, police apprehended the persons who have failed to show necessary document during the citizenship verification. Kokrajhar: Three tier security arrangement has been made in the Strong Rooms where EVMs are kept in Kokrajhar. At least two persons died and two others received serious injuries due to thunderstorm struck in lower Assam's Chirang and Barpeta districts on Sunday. A 16 year old girl died and two others received serious injuries of a family at a remote village due to thunderstruck in Chirang district.
