Leopard killed in Udalguri

Finally the helpless leopard was killed at Boscobari village in Udalguri district.The leopard which had been encircled from all sides at Boscobari in Udalguri last night finally succumbed to its grievous injury.

The forest experts and officials who were trying to locate it to tranquilize this morning with elephant and JCB found its carcass today morning at around 11 am.It needs mention that thousands of villagers tried to kill the innocent leopard yesterday evening defying all prohibitory orders of civil and forest departments of Udalguri and in the process 11 people were injured by the leopard.

According to information, the leopard had been severely injured by villagers yesterday afternoon under the nose of high ranking civil and forest officials accompanied by police and forest personnel.A few villagers even told media that the leopard was even shot twice by security personnel.

Green Society, Udalguri;Udalguri District Journalist Union,Dipen Boro,vice president,ABSU;Press Guild of Kalaigaon etc expressed concern at the killing of the leopard which could have been saved if unruly public were dispersed.
