Annual Athletics meet at Sainik School Goalpara

The Annual Athletics Meet of Sainik School Goalpara for the session 2016-17 held at the school athletics ground on December 20. The Meet was inaugurated by Goalpara SP Abhinava Sinha.  Declaring the Meet open, the Sinha upheld the spirit of sportsmanship and motivated the young and vibrant cadets to showcase their marvels on track. Capt (IN) Edwin Jothi Rajan, the Principal felicitated the Chief Guest.

The glory of the Meet was truly felt when the crowd burst into thunderous eruption as the elated torch-bearing cadets lighted the Olympic cauldron after a smart March Past and Oath Taking by the cadet participants. The sporting arena was turned into a sight of exuberance as the school athletic ground buzzed with cadet athletes brimming with enthusiasm, vigour and determination to earn laurels for their respective houses. The cadets and spectators cheered the athletes and spurred them to go beyond their best to break the previous school records. The cadet athletes belonging to Senior, Junior and Sub-Junior Division will represent their respective houses in various events viz. 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 100m hurdles, 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay. The Closing Ceremony will be held on 23 Dec 16. A large number of parents are expected to witness the Closing Ceremony.

The All Bodo Students Union , one of the largest ethnic students union of the north east has organised a sit and dharna at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on some of the demands for which the organisation is working for couple of years on 9th November, 2012. The demand includes permanent solution of Bodoland issues. It has demanded the protection of Tribal Land (Assam Land & Revenue Regulation Act, 1886).
