Three people were injured when a powerful IED exploded in Imphal East’s Khurai Ahongei around 10:30 am Monday.
The injured are W Ibomcha Singh, 53, resident of Khurai Soibam Leikai, Md Ahamda, 43, resident of Khurai Ahongei and Md Shahid, 35, resident of Yairipok. They were taken to nearby JNIMS hospital for medical treatment.
According to information, the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded near a car which was under repair.
Sources believed the bomb was triggered by suspected militants to target security personnel.
A team of Imphal East police led by its Superintendent of Police Kabib accompanied by a team of Forensic Science and personnel of 6 Assam Rifles led by its Commandant Indrajit Singh rushed to the site to take stock of the situation.
The police found one remote control device in a drain located in front of a shop, about 100 m from the blast site.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blast so far.
