A collection of adventure stories in Assamese named Kutkut-Tuktukar Abhiyan by journalist-writer Nilotpal Barua was released at Guwahati Press Club on Thursday. Published by Pratishruti Prakashan, the book comprises eight stories, which were earlier published in popular Assamese children monthly ‘Sofura’. The book was officially released by Rupam Barua, editor of Sofura in presence of journalists Nava Thakuria, Bedabrat Bora, Abinash Sharma etc.

The river Kalashi is overflowing after the incessant rains that lashed the district during the last 24 hours and amany areas have come under the surging waters. Many organizations and individuals have stood by Lafiqul Islam Ahmed’s family members in Kokrajhar after unidentified gunmen killed the minority student leader. Nearly 45 people have signed an open letter to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal demanding sustainable support to the bereaved family members of the student leader who was killed on August 1. These signatories suggested the Chief Minister a job to the victim’s family member to prove his good will and a sense of social justice. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has urged President Ram Nath Kovind to set up a Presidential retreat in the north eastern region.
