Missing girls rescued, abductor nabbed

At a time when there have been steep rise in cases of missing women and minors in Udalguri. Harisinga Police rescued a 14 year old girl child who was missing from her Harisinga residence since October 14 this year. A missing report was lodged by the family members of the child. Though police had been looking for every possible source for tracing the missing child since then. Based on special inputs Harisinga OC Dipankar Gogoi and 2nd officer Naren Ch. Swargiary launched a manhunt and rescued the minor girl child from Pub-Jatiya village under Baihata Charali PS of Kamrup (R) on Saturday last.

Police apprehended one Surat Ali(27) in this connection. Reportedly the accused who is married and is a father of a 2 year old child is an inhabitant of Mahiripara village under Goreswar PS of Baksa .

He is believed to have lured the girl child and convinced her in fleeing away with him. Ali is a self-styled tantrik who wanders from place to place and is known for providing medicines and amulets for incurable diseases and there by practising superstition among people.

A case has been registered based on the F.I.R by the girl's father whose surname goes by Debnath

at Harisinga PS vide case no. 64/16 . The accused has been booked of Kidnapping, abducting or inducing the child to compel her mar­riage under IPC 366 . The accused has been forwarded to judicial custody.

Udalguri police apprehends robber

UDALGURI: The Udalguri police led by DSP(Hq), Moidul Islam and assisted by Udalguri O.C, Narayan Patangia apprehended one Basanta Rabha from Sastrapara area under Harisinga P.S in Udalguri on Friday.The accused is allegedly involved in a broad daylight robbery of seven lakhs from two oil depot workers near Ambagaon of Harisinga on July 24 last.According to the workers they were accosted by a group of two men who snatched the bag containing the money.Though the workers chased the robbers they fled the scene. Man trampled to death by wild jumbos

UDALGURI: The Indo-Bhutan border villages in Udalguri district-region fraught with human-animal conflict and bloodshed and continue to witness brutality of wild jumbos.  In yet another incident, one Mardia Munda (25), a tea garden labour , was trampled to death by wild jumbos at Nalanadi under Dimakuchi PS in Udalguri district on Wednesday.Reportedly, the labour was on his way back home after plucking green leaves when he was confronted by wild jumbo trampling him to death. The local villagers witnessed his soul-less body at about 3 pm when the police and forest officials reached the spot. His body has been retrieved and sent for post-mortem.

TANGLA: The Tangla Police,solving the kidnapping case of a minor girl who was missing since June 27 last,apprehended four persons and rescued the minor girl on Sunday.
