Shops gutted at Boribazar market fire
Five Shops were gutted in a major fire that broke out at Boribazar daily market in Batadrava on Thursday morning at around 10:45 a.m . While properties worth about 10 lakh were destroyed, no casualty reported. The fire started due to an electric short circuit at a mobile phone shop which further spread to nearby shops including a garment shop. Three fire tenders were able to brought the fire under control.

Batadrava MLA Angoorlata Deka opened four newly constructed Classrooms including toilets in Pachim Silpukhuri Adarxa Higher Secondary School and Uttar Silpukhuri Secondary School on Wednesday. The Classrooms with toilets have been completed with an expenditure of Rs.48 lakh under Multi sectoral development Programme. A 16-year-old boy named Abhinash nath,crossing the NH 37 near Phulaguri in the Nagaon district died at the scene after being hit by an unknown vehicle (suspected to be a Swift dzire) on Saturday morning. According to locals, Abinash nath, son of Mohan nath of Pahupurikhaiti under Raha police station was a Class X student of Phulaguri Sankardev Sishu vidya niketan. Eye Witness said, the tregedy struck Abhinash while crossing the NH37 with earphones plugged in. He was on his way to his tuition classes riding his bycycle in the morning. Meanwhile, the Raha police are still trying to locate the Vehicle that was responsible for the accident and had fled from the scene.

In yet another incident of firing within a span of 24 hours, unidentified persons opened fire on a 34-year-old man at Barhampur area of Nagaon on Monday night. One Naba Sinha of Amoni was injured in the incident. As per reports, Naba was on his way towards home on his motorcycle when two motorcycle borne unidentified persons fired a bullet at Barhampur. The bullet hit Naba's left leg.On receiving information, a police team from Nagaon Sadar rushed to the spot and launched investigation. The police recovered a 9MM pistol bullet from the spot. A 20-year-old youth named Saurav Hazarika of Tetelisara under Kampur police station and a TDC 1st semester student of Ananadaram Dhekial Phukan College, Nagaon has received serious gunshot injuries when four unidentified miscreants fired at him adjacent to Kalaikhua bridge, Barkola in the Nagaon district on Sunday evening. Saurav was on his way towards home on his motorcycle and when four miscrents forcefully stopped him and started firing. A newborn baby was left abandoned with a note (letter) in a gateway shed at Nij Demow under Bebejia police outpost in the Nagaon district on Sunday morning. The boy has been admitted to the Nagaon BP civil hospital.
