Jumbo electrocuted

A male jumbo was electrocuted in a paddy field at  Sagolijhar area, Panery of Nonai Forest Range of Udalguri district on Sunday night.  Dr. Sulab Sarma Vety. Assistant carried out the post-mortem of the jumbo which revealed electrocution as the cause of death.

Fake nursing schools galore in Udalguri

UDALGURI : With the surge of number of students opting for  para-medical studies,there have been mushrooming growth of fake institutions across the Udalguri district. Wild jumbos create terror

UDALGURI: The fury of wild jumbos continous unabated at Indo-Bhutan border villages in Udalguri.The Borengabari villagers near Ghagra are being frequented by wild jumbos every night as a result of which the villagers are spending sleepless nights. What has added to the woes of the villagers is the negligence of the forest authorities who despite repeated calls for patrolling the village leave the villagers to their fate. Wild jumbo tramples 1 to death

In yet another tragic incident, a youth was trampled to death by a loner wild jumbo in Paneri Tea Estate in Udalguri at about 10 pm on Saturday evening. The deceased has been identified as Jaichan Kujur (25). Locals told that Kujur was confronted by the loner while he was on his way back home. It is pertinent here to mention that the man-elephant conflict has taken an ugly turn along the Indo-Bhutan border villages in Udalguri district claiming as 7 human lives and 8 elephant in 2017-18. 

School gets library

Tea Giant, Goodricke Group Limited operating Orangajuli and Nonaipara Tea gardens in the area under its Corporate Social Responsibility scheme has donated an e-library building to Garuajhar High School near Paneri in Udalguri district.
