Immunization drive in Kokrajhar

A special immunization drive was carried out in Kokrajhar district along with rest of the state by department of Health & Family welfare,government of Assam giving utmost importance and priority to universal immunization programme for children and pregnant women.

Kampa Borgoyary, BTC deputy chief kick start to inaugurate the immunization drive with feeding polio drops to babies in the preence of official and staffs of the Health & Family welfare department at Balajan block hospital on Thursday in Kokrajhar district.Borgoyary, in his addresses said that immunization is very much needed among citizens to get healthy health and situation in the region.

He said that health consciousness and social uplift is very important way to the growth and shape of human society through which citizens could be brought under full immunization. He urged the citizen and guardians to give immunization to all children below two years to protect from nine several other diseases like-TB,Polio,Hepatitis B,Diptheria,Whooping cough,Tetanus,Measles, Japanese Encephalitis and Influenza to make them diseases free and healthy.

It is to be noted that according to National Family Health Survey(NFHS) 2016,only 47 percent of our children have received full immunization which implies that a major 53 percent of the children are either left out or not covered under full immaunization programme which is a matter of great concern. It is a special programme to reach the unreached and cover the uncovered,said Borgoyary.

A public meeting in this regard was also organized with Dinesh Chandra Boro,Secretary,BTC in the chair.

“It is a good drive to bring health awareness about immunization.Citizens are getting benefits through this programme.Citizens should participate with positive attitude so that child mortality could be stopped”,Borgoyary said.

KOKRAJHAR: The nationwide lockdown has evoked full response in four districts of Bodoland Territorial Areas to fight against the COVID-19 outbreak across the country. KOKRAJHAR: Around 487 persons are being kept in the six quarantine centres set up in Kokrajhar district under strict observation with proper medical check up. The centres have been set up by district administration to check those persons who are coming from neighbouring states towards Assam in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak.
