Pramila blames forrest officials for forest destruction
Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma slamming forest staffs in BTAD expresses her suspects that forest departmental staffs have been nexus with timber smuggler while destroying Sal trees in the region. Brahma seized a tractor laden Sal timbers at Amuguri area in Nayekgaon Forest Range under Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctury in Kokrajhar district on Monday.
Brahma alleged that forest department officials are not working actively,even though concern department authority instructed to take stern action against timber smuggling in the state. Brahma,on Monday seized a tractor in which timber mafias carrying Sal logs through Bahalpur-Choraikola Road thif after noon while she was going Guwahati from Kokrajhar.She along with Kokrajhar SP,Shyamal Prasad Saikia also raided the jungle area near Rubber park where more 10 pieces of Sal logs were also able recover to seize.Market values of the seized Sal timbers would be over 5 lakhs.
Brahma,revealed that Sal tress were destructed due to duty negligence of forest officials in the district as well region.Stern actions would be taken forest officials,who were found negligence of duty and responsibilities of the department, she said. She has urged forest staff of Nayekgaon Range to take bold initiative while protecting the timber smuggling so that Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary could be protected with natural beauti preservation.
Saikia said that police administartion was ready to protect the Sal trees in the area and extending help to forest department while protecting natural resources.

Yet another witch hunting incident fans no less shock and anger across the on Monday two days after it came to light. The Kokrajhar police have arrested a person for allegedly raping his daughter. The incident took place at Bhoomki part 1 under Salakati police outpost in the BTAD district where identified as Amjad Ali allegedly raped his 11 years old daughter recently. He was arrested in connection with Kokrajhar P. S. Case No. 589/17 U/S 4 of POCSO Act on the basis of FIR lodged by his wife. Investigation is on into the incident, said a senior police officer.

Yet another case of double murder strikes no less anger and sensation in BTAD areas on where a couple was found killed inside their house on Wednesday. The incident took place at Salbari village in Bongaigaon where the bodies were recovered inside their house. Identified as Ganesh Barman and his wife Pampi Barman, they were found dead with marks of injury. Local residents told Assam Times that Ganesh was believed to gave killed his wife before he committed suicide. Police and local residents broke the doors and recovered the bodies.
