Police citizen meet

Along with many parts of state as to create awareness among the society and prevent antisocial elements in creating nuisance ,a joint meeting between police and citizens of greater Tangla area under Tangla PS was held at Tangla VDP office on Sunday. The programme which was presided over by present ADC and in-charge SDC Harisinga Revenue Circle Bhaskar Jyoti Manta was attended by a considerable number of conscious citizens.

The purpose of the meeting was conveyed by D.Kalita OC Tangla PS. Issues like mitigating prevailing superstition that include witch-hunting,fear of demons,attrocities on women and childrens,abuse of drugs etc; were discussed among the citizens and police officials. Speaking on the ocassion ADC Bhaskar Jyoti Manta said"To create a superstitious free,crime free and healthy society the people should co-operate with the administration." Speaking on the ocassion Pranjal Borah SDPO Bhergaon said" Keeping the society in a disciplined and crime-free manner is the primary responsibility of every citizen."

Borah further stressed upon the responsibility of the conscious citizens in minimizing the communication gap between civilians and police in greater interest of the society. Educationist Ashim Kr. Roy delivering a burning speech on the ocassion said " Though many peace keeping committees between civilian and police was formed previously they were mere eye-wash whose significance was almost nil. He exhorted the people to work effectively for the cause of the society."

Social worker Likhan Das,advocate Malai Kr. Lahiri, Mahindra Bharali,Jatin Deka along with many others delivered speeches on prevailing social issues and startegies to mitigate them. A 16 member working Tangla Police Station citizens committee headed by President Bhaskar jyoti Manta,Vice-president Ashim Kr. Roy and member Secretary Tangla PS OC and joint secretary Likhan Das was formed. The committee has decided to arrange get-together meetings every month and arrange awareness programmes in schools and colleges specially targeting young generation.

UDALGURI:   In yet another road mishap,in Panery of Udalguri, 17 childrens were injured when the Mahindra Supro, van they were travelling in overturned at Christianbasti area under Panery PS in Udalguri at about 8.45 am on Monday morning.The injured childrens were immediately rushed to Tangla CHC with the help of locals. The childrens dressed as Bol Bom devotees were purportedly going to attend religious programmes.The attending doctors have stated that the childrens are out of danger. UDALGURI: At least sixty people including women and childrens ,were admitted for a suspected case of food poisoning in Panery Subsidiary Health Centre in  Panery of Udalguri district on Saturday.
