Meritorious students feted at Kalaigaon

Kalaigaon Town Koch-Rajbongshi Sanmilan felicitated fifteen numbers of meritorious students and a few distinguished people of greater Kalaigaon area at a ceremony organised at Kalaigaon College Hall on July 16. The felicitation ceremony was presided over by Jagat Chandra barua,President of the Sanmilan.Kandeswar Deka, ex-principal of Kalaigaon HS School inaugurated the felicitation ceremony.Speaking as the chief guest,Maheswar Boro,MLA, Kalaigaon LAC said that BTC authority had been supporting meritorious students of BTAD in various ways.He also remarked that BPF was keen to improve the standard of education in BTAD.Requesting parents and guardians to come forward to filful dreams of the meritorious students he said that students need tough preparation for all India level competitions.Earlier Amrit Deka, president of the students' Academic Trust welcomed all the guests,students and guardians.Sukleswar Deka,Headmaster of Tengabari LP School near Kalaigaon town was felicitated on the occasion of achieving distinguished state awards for the school.Its worth mentioning that Tengabari LP School has been awarded as one of the ten cleanest school in Assam among forty five thousand LP schools under Swatch Bharat Abhijan.Boys and girls of Parijat cultural group performed a few cultural items to the delight of the people.Saroj Kumar Deka,who had cleared APSC this year was also felicitated on the occasion.Dr.Dilip Kumar Barua, principal, Burhinagar College attended the felicitation ceremony as the appointed speaker while Dibjyoti Kumar Deka, president,Udalguri District AKRSU;JK Das, District Academic Inspector Schools,Udalguri;retired SBI officer Sanjay Kumar Tanti also spoke a few words on the occasion.Fifteen numbers of meritorious students who had performed well in the HSLC and HS examination this year were felicitated with a gamocha,packet of books and a tree sapling each.

Baby wild tusker succums to injury in Udalguri

A badly injured six years old wild tusker has succumbed to death yesterday evening on May 23 after battling for life since May 18 at Ganeshghat village in Udalguri district.The injured wild tusker had been very weak while entering the remote village near Majuli tea garden with other two wild elephants on May 18.Villagers could see several injury marks on its body and blood was seen oozing out from a deep injury on its fore head.Unable to cross a small stream, the tusker fell to the bottom of the streamlet.
