AJYCP strike on Monday

The move to auction 12 oil fields in Assam runs into a hail of state-wide protests. Announcing a slew of protest, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad threatens to intensify protest if the Centre refuses to restraint by July 8. Talking to Assam Times, AJYCP leaders in Sivasagar said they are holding a 12-hour strike at the oil field in Sivasagar district on Monday. On Tuesday, the influential organization will further block the national Highway No 37 in protest against the controversial move of the Modi Government. On July 8, they would block the rails opposing the move.

The big question is when Public Sector companies like OIL and ONGC cannot make profit from these fields, how can Private Sector Parties can make profit. Are they superior to ONGC or OIL in in technology, equipments and manpower ?

Populist measures in the time of lockdown

Guwahati: In a bid to give some sort of respite in the time of nationwide lock down, the Assam government is launching a slew of schemes targeting 72 lakh families in the state. Presided over by CM Sarbananda Sonowal, the meeting resolved provide free rice for 58 lakh families under the National Food Security (NFS) Scheme  from Wednesday. Guwahati: The State governments of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram have declared Statewide lockdowns till the midnight of March 31. 5-days lock down to counter COVID19

Guwahati: Even after COVID 19 has not afflicted the state,  a 5 days lock down is in place across Assam from Tuesday to keep the killer virus at bay. State health minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma said the lock down is coming into force from 5 in the morning where the civilians would be allowed to be on the road only for groceries and pharmacies.
