AJYCP strike on Monday

The move to auction 12 oil fields in Assam runs into a hail of state-wide protests. Announcing a slew of protest, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad threatens to intensify protest if the Centre refuses to restraint by July 8. Talking to Assam Times, AJYCP leaders in Sivasagar said they are holding a 12-hour strike at the oil field in Sivasagar district on Monday. On Tuesday, the influential organization will further block the national Highway No 37 in protest against the controversial move of the Modi Government. On July 8, they would block the rails opposing the move.

The big question is when Public Sector companies like OIL and ONGC cannot make profit from these fields, how can Private Sector Parties can make profit. Are they superior to ONGC or OIL in in technology, equipments and manpower ?

Cong sticks to NRC: Ripun Bora

GUWAHATI:Amid growing attack on Congress over suspicious and mysterious stand on the NRC related statement on Mamata Banerjee, the opposition party on Sunday made it plain and simple that there is no question of opposing NRC. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati party president Ripun Bora and senior leader Pradyut Bordoloi said the party had been supporting an updated NRC and it would keep supporting it. Amit Shah on visit to North East

DIPHU: In yet another bizarre incident that sends huge shock and anger across the state, a minor boy allegedly molested and killed a 6 year old girl in Karbi Anglong district on Friday. Police in the late evening recovered the body from a pit in Omrangsu area where the shocking incident took place. Kokrajhar,Jan 5: The United People's Party-Liberal (UPPL) demanded a free and fair NRC across the state. Three women for rowing camp

GUWAHATI: The Assam Boat Racing & Rowing Association has dispatched three women to participate in the Senior Men & Women National Coaching Camp in Rowing at Army Rowing Node in Pune slate from Sunday to March 3. NDFB(S) rebels held in Udalguri

UDALGURI: Despite stepped up counter insurgency operations,  group of rebels has been moving in the BTAD areas. Stranger found in dire strait

NAMRUP: The local residents in Namrup rescued a stranger in dire strait on Friday who is now battling for life at the Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh. Ramesh Murmu, a local resident discovered the unidentified person at the railway station premises in the morning and passed the information to the railway police. Then a local pharmacist offered him primary treatment before sending him to the state dispensary. Then finally he was rushed to the Assam Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Local residents and the police men were quite disappointed with the 108 officials who, initially refused to render service to the stranger patient.
